My Dances with God Fire Season

Current mood:CELEBRATING & DANCING

For those of you who don’t know, I live up in the mountains of Idaho on twelve acres, in a cottage (otherwise known as the Pump House to my friends), on the property of my dear friends Joe and Grace. I lovingly call this my “Graceland” and affectionately call Joe and Grace my “Grace and Mercy” who will always be a part of my life…forever.

As an amateur, yet passionate Seasonoligist, I have discovered new and exciting things up here at “Graceland” that I had not know before now. In case you’re wondering. . .{SEASONOLIGIST: the science and study of God’s spiritual seasons and His dealings in a persons life; as they relate to and are paralleled with the natural seasons of God’s creation}. And I bet you thought that wasn’t a real word. I found it in the Smith & McClure Dictionary of Spiritual Terms. So, now for my new discovery…

Yesterday morning, as I was pouring my cup of coffee and looking out over the low hanging smoke from the Spring burn pile fires that had been slowly burning all night, I watched it blanket the ground and create an otherworldly, Glory of God kind of feel in Graceland. And then I heard His Voice say to me, “Dena, are you ready to have your Dances with God Fire for your springtime burn?” I love the scene in Dances With Wolves where John Dunbar dances around that huge bonfire. I also love making fires. In fact I have my own fire pit out in back of my cottage and I’ve been know to dance around a few fires on some star filled summer nights here in Graceland.

You see it’s the annual springtime burn season. It’s the time of the year after the winter has passed and all the things that the winters of our lives have a way of exposing, i.e. the dead, unfruitful and fallen branches of our lives, the fallen leaves and pine needles, the trash that was covered by snow, and yes the enormous amounts of dog poop (s#&t) that was buried all winter under the snow. (We had five dogs at the start of winter and now we’re down to three.) You would be surprised what the winters of our lives can reveal.

When the dormant winter times of hiddeness are over and the snow has melted and all this debris is laid waste over the grounds of our lives that is when the Holy Spirit walks the property of our hearts and begins gathering up all the debris and making burn piles to be torched. This is for the purpose of clearing the grounds of our hearts for the New Season of growth to begin.

Now this particular fire of the Holy One is a fun, yes fun fire. It’s not your painful Judgment Fire. Its not a ravaging fire storm that sweeps through the forest and leaves it looking like a moonscape. . .I’ve seen that one too, and it’s not a pretty sight. No, this one is a slow but beautiful burn, that can last up to several days. As of today, we’re on our third day now. . .and the piles are still burning.

But I think what my FATHER was saying to me was this, Dena go grab your waking stick and lets go survey the land of your heart after this winter you’ve gone through and then lets you and I make some burn piles of all the things you allowed me to prune away and cause to fall away during this past winter. Let’s go find all that trash and all that (you knew this one was coming) poop (s#&t) that you didn’t see before, but now because of the winter you just came out of, it’s all laid out there for everyone to see. But Dee, I don’t want everyone to see it, I want to annihilate it with my Holy Fire. And then I want you to grab your stick and lets you and I CELEBRATE your new season and your obedience and willingness to allow Me to walk you through this past Winter so I could bring you to this moment. Because after all, that’s what the Winters of your life are for. Sweetheart, allow me to torch your spring burn piles and then let’s YOU AND I DANCE.

Got any springtime burn piles in your life that needs burning. Then grab your stick and have a DANCES WITH GOD FIRE tonight.
