The Wells of my Pilgrimage

Abraham had his, Isaac and Jacob had theirs, and I’m convinced we still have ours. . .wells that is. You just don’t recognize it because you’re probably looking in the wrong place and at the wrong thing.

Abe and his boys were basically nomads, called out by God and always seeming to be transitioning to the next place. Therefore, they dug wells at strategic places in their lives in order to sustain and refresh themselves, their families and their business of being herdsmen. They always found their way back to these wells no matter where life took them. They would find their Oasis and there they would find their wells.

I guess at the end of the day we’re all a bunch of nomadic pilgrims just passing through. Therefore, be sure to identify where your different places of Oasis are and then dig your wells so that you may sustain and refresh yourself for your pilgrimage. Abraham and Isaac named their wells, therefore, I also would like to share some of the names of mine and the Oasis you’ll find them in:

My McCall Oasis holds many wells that sustain and refresh me: there’s the Larry & Carole well that I drink in tender loving care and friendship from and deep bubbling waters of joy and a lot of laughter. Then there’s Joe & Grace who overflow with giving of themselves, their home, their possessions; you name it and they’ll give it. Yes, it’s pretty much an abundance of God’s unconditional love out here at the Graceland wells. At my Natalie well, I drink of passion and faith. At my Kelly well, I partake of worship and laughter. At my Emily well I drink of kindness, purity and creativity.

Then there’s the Vacaville Oasis that I just recently revisited. My Mike & Pam well sustains me with abundant affirmations, intercession, worship, and so much creativity, all served up in a Kingdom Cup of Gold and Silver. My Bob & Barb well overflows with pure worship from the very throne of God and I always get a good drink of love and joy from Barb. My Joyce well provides me with encouragement and hope. My Tammy well sustains me with faith and laughter. Sophie’s well runs deep with faithfulness, kindness, and a great sense of humor. And my Graham, well, over the years I’ve been blessed to drink from the deep wisdom of God that pours out of him like sweet waters.

I am grateful for the wells that God has allowed to spring up around my life. I love each and every one of you and I truly carry a part of you in me wherever I go, and in whatever I do, because of what you’ve poured into me.

Oh Lord, I pray my waters will be sweet to the taste for those who will drink from my life, and that I may sustain and refresh them as they have me. Let your rivers of living waters flow through each and every one of us; and may you overflow the banks of our lives and spill over on all those we will touch.
